I’m not mad about posting pictures of myself or my family.
I’ll make an exception for this one because it somehow seems quite meaningful.
It captures the spirit and feeling of this time of year.
It was taken during a lovely family holiday to the Manifold Valley in the Peak District National Park in October.
The picture is of me crossing the River Dove over the famous stepping stones in nearby Dovedale.
Christmas and New Year is a time to review the past year and look forward to the new one.
And this is what the picture seems to capture: it’s me looking back over an eventful and fast-flowing year, but there’s also plenty of steps and challenges still to be taken in the year ahead in 2018.
Life is constantly moving and changing, just like the River Dove. Sometimes we are completely consumed by the issues and obstacles that are immediately in front of us. It is always good to stop, take a breath and look up.
You get a great sense of satisfaction looking back at what you have achieved, as well as experiencing the buzz and excitement of seeing some of the hurdles and adventures that lie ahead of you on life’s great journey.
